1000 Plays Update

Hi all,

Starting Over recently got to 1,000 plays on Itch, which is a bit overwhelming. Thank you all for trying what I hope becomes a decent game for my first time creating one. It's got a long way to go, but we'll get there.

It'll be a few months before there are any significant updates to Starting Over. In addition to some real life calamities I've gone through, I have a few other projects with deadlines before the end of the year that have needed my attention of late. With that said, my hope is to have part of the first post-intro path you'll be able to play (Sara's path) done by the end of the year. All post-intro character paths will likely be split into six parts. Because of the long period of time between the most recent update and the one I'm planning, my hope is to have parts 1 and 2 done for Sara by end of year, but we'll see what I'm able to get done around my other responsibilities.

Additionally, there'll be new art coming for character sprites in the game in the coming months. This will begin with Sara, Harper, and Tessa, but will eventually expand to all characters in the game. Though the current plan is to have this new art in place with the next release, I don't want to rush my artist (as she also has a number of responsibilities on her plate), so I'll be sure to be transparent about things as I know more.

Lastly, if you've liked the game thus far, please consider giving a positive rating to Starting Over. More ratings -- and more good ratings -- means more eyes on the game. Which (hopefully) means more potential folks who could want to help fund the game, which would allow me to make it quicker.
